HARRISBURG – State Rep. Dawn Keefer (R-Dillsburg) asks residents to thank a police officer in honor of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, which is today, Jan. 9.
At Keefer’s request, the Pennsylvania State Capitol will be lit up with blue lights this evening to honor members of the law enforcement community. Keefer, whose husband is a corporal with the Pennsylvania State Police, issued the following statement on Law Enforcement Appreciation Day:
“We should all pause today to say a simple ‘thank you’ to the more than 900,000 brave men and women across the country who serve and protect us every day. Communities across Pennsylvania are blessed to have dedicated and highly trained law enforcement officers who risk their lives each day to keep our streets safe.
“Being a member of the law enforcement profession does not come without great sacrifice, whether it be missing holidays with family, coping with trauma from the job or suffering injury or even death in the line of duty. We owe officers a debt of gratitude.”
