For years, if not decades, people have urged the Pennsylvania General Assembly to come up with a viable solution for relief from school property taxes that are forcing senior citizens out of their homes. But their appeals appeared to fall on deaf ears. Believe me, I know the frustration as I was one of those people asking my elected officials to fix this problem.

DILLSBURG – Rep. Dawn Keefer (R-York/Cumberland) issued the following statement in response to the elimination of a layer of government and Gov. Tom Wolf violating the state Constitution by circumventing the legislative process to borrow $90 million.
HARRISBURG – York County Republican legislators are accusing Gov. Tom Wolf of heeding party wishes over the needs of Pennsylvania’s cash-strapped counties by vetoing much-needed election reform legislation today. Wolf’s decision to reject Senate Bill 48 kills efforts to help local governments with the cost of the 2020 election - after he unilaterally decertified all of the state’s voting machines - and do away with the antiquated straight-party voting option at polling places.
HARRISBURG – York County is about to be the beneficiary of a record windfall of more than $485,000 from the collection of an impact fee on natural gas drilling activities in other regions of Pennsylvania, according to members of the county’s House Republican delegation. Distribution of revenue will take place in early July.
I was one of the few House Republicans to vote against the 2019-20 budget. Behind every vote is a story, and I want to share mine.
For decades youth have been preached the need for a college education. While I agree pursuing a quality education is a benefit not only to students, but for all society, I question the need to push our students into attending college when it may not be for them.

DILLSBURG – As part of efforts to better inform gunowners of their rights and responsibilities, Rep. Dawn Keefer (R-Dillsburg) will hold a Firearm Owner Rights and Responsibilities Seminar at the Franklintown Fire Company, 107 Baltimore Road, Franklintown, on Wednesday, April 3, from 6-8 p.m. A second seminar will be held in Fairview Township in May.
HARRISBURG – With REAL IDs about to be made available in Pennsylvania, Rep. Dawn Keefer (R-York/Cumberland) will host an event to assist residents with pre-verifying documents required to obtain a REAL ID. The event will be held in the cafeteria Northern High School, 653 S. Baltimore St., on Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 5-8 p.m.
As I sat in my seat on the House floor and listened to Gov. Tom Wolf deliver his budget address, I was shocked to hear him not only acknowledge but also learn he plans to transfer funds from “shadow budget” accounts to fund his proposed spending as part of the 2019-20 state budget.

For the most part, growing up I was told I can become whatever I wanted if I set goals and worked hard to achieve them. There were, however, a few times I was told I couldn’t be this or that simply because I’m a female.
